You are right that Cathy "owned" this topic.

But by definition, most of the members of PD operate on intuition anyway. We all read, discuss, debate, study, etc; but when it comes down to it, we can't prove any of it. Some of us believe that science is Truth, some of us believe that all religions hold bits and pieces of Truth, some of us believe that Nature alone can show us all the Truth we need to know, and some of us combine all of the above.

Personal intuition is the part of our mind that tells us what we can accept or reject; what is plausible, and what is doubtful. Allowing intuition to guide us is what separates us from blind faith...

I think Cathy was trying to remind us that the Deist emphasis on Reason is not intended to be contrasted with Intuition, but with Blind Faith. Intuition is not the opposite of Reason, it's the complement. By contrast, rigid lock-down beliefs will thwart the whole purpose of reasoning : to test and validate questionable beliefs.

This is true. Cathy was a big reason behind the formulation of reflective reason (intuition + reason) in Unified Deism.

She seems like a really nice person from the couple of talks we had on here. Anyone know why she left?

I scolded her for a ruse in poor taste; she took offence and quit. A shame.

Around a month ago I sent her a nice message about checking out all the new material around here and UD. She replied with a rant about being marginalized by the community here when no such thing happened. She then went on the AFA site and said Deism and Atheism were bad for humanity, along with all other "labels" except hers of course. What can you do? I wish her the best.

IMO intuition is an aspect of reason.

I agree. Cathy was the reason we developed "reflective reason."

I am sorry to hear that Cathy is no longer with us. My attendance has been spotty at best but I come here when I want to be with my own kind, with people of like mind. Cathy did inspire me to think and grow. I thank her for her contributions and wish her well.

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I know sometimes I rub people the wrong way, but my intentions are only for good. I enjoyed our contact too, and I hope you stop back by while I am here. :)
