What if Jesus.......

Postby driver » Sun Apr 04, 2010 5:33 pm

What if Jesus came to earth now? How stunned would he be? He would wonder what was a Christian Church. He probably would have no problem with the eastern religions or the Jewish faith. He would wonder why there were so many different Christian Church's. Once he found out some information about Christianity he would be floored that they named him the Christ. He certainly would be surprised to learn that his mother was a virgin upon conceiving him. Things like walking on water, turning water into, wine sending demons into a herd of pigs to jump off a cliff he would wonder are there no end to the stories.

I agree. I think Jesus would be very shocked as to his life story (as it's told today anyway) and what has become of his teachings. But ... would he see any good from it and would that good outweigh the imperfections? As in, the story may not be accurate but would the overall lesson still hold true, or have we veered off so much that we have lost the true message and no longer get the actual lesson to be learned? Does that make sense?

I think what would shock and anger him the most is that he is being worshiped, that he is prayed to, and that people turn to this representation of him instead of God. He may even feel like a monumental failure. If he did come, he probably wouldn't spend much time in churches.

Ahh ... yes. Not to mention the worship of his mother, Mary, as well in the Catholic church. I don't think any of that is what he had in mind. I don't recall him saying anything about being GOD or divine. It would certainly be a shock to see images of him crucified all over the place. It's quite morbid really ...

Another thought ... aside from his reaction to the way things are today, what do you think our reaction would be of him? Would our treatment of him be better or worse than his time?

After watching some of the Frontline special about the real Jesus that Cathy linked for us, it seems to me that the political and religious climate of the times was very similar to what we see today. I think people would react in much the same way, some would understand, others turn it to their own purposes. Jesus would be medicated and neutralized, rather than killed. Personally, I don't think I'd really believe it was him.

Edgar Cayce a psychic and prophet of the 20th century predicted that Jesus would reincarnate in 1998. Who knows maybe somewhere there is a 12 year old who is very enlightened. His consciousness would be very advanced as was the real Jesus. People like the Buddha and Jesus were operating at 1000% of their consciousness. Thats why Jesus could heal certain afflictions in a paranormal way. So yes if Jesus came back he would still want to teach the message of love.

I didn't know Edgar Cayce predicted that, he just gets stranger and stranger! If he's right, things may get might interesting in the next 20 years or so! When you posed the question, I imagined a full grown man popping on to the scene, not a child (duh). That changes things a bit. I would guess that at some point, he would realize what's become of everything he believed in and be heartbroken, just like he was before. The big question is, how will he be perceived by the church? I can't imagine they would tolerate his criticisms any more than the Jews did. It seems that the Christian church has made the same mistakes the Jews did, worshiping idols, holding to the same laws of sin and retribution, and waiting for the Messiah to come and make everything right. Just as God was rejected by those he created, he would be rejected by those who worship him.

Hi Lily. It didn't matter whether you viewed him as an adult or a child growing into one. In this country he would challenge the Oil Companies, Corporate America, Banks, etc.. He would cry out how America uses up most of the worlds resources while other countries are poorer because of it. He would see that systems like welfare really don't help out the poor in the long run. Pretty much anything that tore people apart he would speak about.

Well, he'd better be immortal because that's going to take a really long time.
