Welcome to the Christian Deism forum

Postby cclendenen » Tue Apr 28, 2009 5:13 am

This discussion forum has been created for the express purpose of giving Christian Deists a place to gather and talk about issues relative to Christian Deism. Websites such as http://www.onr.com/user/bejo/index.htm and http://ChristianDeism.com/ are great resources for learning about Christian Deism, but to develop a true fellowship, Christian Deists need a place to discuss their thoughts and aspirations. This forum exists for that reason.

Brother John told me he had gotten an email from you. Welcome again!

I took a look on Brother John's web page. His brief article explaining how he discovered Deism is much interesting, as everything he tell us there concerning his previous religious beliefs...
As a lot of historical deists were Christian deists - and I think a lot of deists still are (different from myself), I sincerely think it was a nice idea to begin a CD-Section here. It is not my point of view, but I'll frequently read the posts here, surely I'll learn a lot.

I don't really consider my a Christian Deist but I am currently reading the Jefferson Bible and so far it seems to reflect my opinion of the faith I was raised in.

I tried to tell TheBobda about this forum so maybe he'd come back and post some more, but he just kind of had an "eh" kind of attitude about it all.

Maybe "eh" is what works for him right now. I certainly went through my own "eh" period.

I've been meaning to read the Jefferson Bible as well. I read a few pages of it at Amazon.com, and it makes quite a bit of sense.

Since my current struggle of faith is with the existence of any divinity, I'm putting Christ on a back burner to simmer.

I have a Christian friend who says that you can come to know God through Christ, but I think you need to decide if you believe there is a God or not before Christ will do anything but confuse you in terms of divinity.

Christ is VERY special to me and I agree with His general philosophy.

I'm going to keep struggling with this whole, "does God exist" question and keep watching this forum. Christ is on deck and I'm keeping an eye on Him.

The concept of Christian Deism is new to me. I've read some of the links that were placed on this forum. I think I now understand some of the definitions of Christian Deism. But, I now have some questions.

1. Why Christian Deism? A number of people have been great teachers with messages of peace and understanding of fellow mankind. Buddhist Deism, Einsteinian Deism, Spinozaian Deism, etc. may be significant, too. Is Christian Deism important because such a large population of this planet characterize themselves as Christians?

2. Is Christian Deism much different from the Gnostic beliefs that were prevalent at the time that Jesus lived?

3. One may enjoy further reading of the teachings of Jesus referenced on this page http://www.godonlinehome.com/jesusbeforegod as Jesus - Before he was God. Both The Secret Teachings of Jesus and The Lost Gospel Q would be enjoyable reading by Christian Deists.
Should you have an interest in Deism or Biblical information out of mainstream teachings, please visit my website at http://www.GodOnlineHome.com.

The latter, I think. It is a well-known message. I think it is better as allegory. As history or fact, it's absurd to me.

I don't think so. Right now I am reading The Gnostics: The First Christian Heretics by Sean Martin. Pretty interesting, but I haven't gotten far enough along to answer yet.

I will check them out.
