I am in contact with an older gentlemen who is interested in getting together with fellow Deists in the DFW area. He is in Waxahachie.

Anyone interested? PM me, and I'll get you some contact information.

Next year's Texas Freethought Convention will be in Dallas in October or November. The TFC has been on a Saturday. Any interest in setting up a Deist meetup on the day following?

I've got an Uncle that lives in Sanger, TX. That might be a good time for me to go visit him. Looking at Google Earth, Sanger doesn't look to be all that far away from Dallas. He's a born again Christian though, so if he knew the real purpose behind my visit, He'd probably make me stay in a hotel...

I have no insight on the schedule, but I'll be there's a Friday social, Saturday all day and a Sunday special event.

Still haven't heard whether I will have a speaking role. I do plan to have a table and sell books. I'll let you know as I find out more.

My optimism and enthusiasm for this event have diminished greatly in the last day or two. The past two years the event has been one day, and it cost $25. This year it has gone to three days, and it costs $90. You can register for $75 if you register before 7/25...OOPS!... correction, 7//31..., but they just put that word out yesterday. Despite 242 days advance notice, I still don't know if I will get a table, and if so, I don't know what they will charge.

Whether I will even attend is now in doubt. If this falls through, what are your thoughts about having a Deist convention sometime before the end of the year?

Mixed feelings, personally I wouldn't have the gall but that's just me.

I live in north Fort Worth and would be interested in a meeting in this area as long as we can sacrifice a goat (just kidding, just kidding).

We have a few UU churches in our area but I don't attend them and aren't sure how many of their congregants would be deists.

Anyway, if someone sees this and wants to get together for a beer, let me know. I'll even buy. BYOG, though. :)

Maybe an informal get-together in N. Texas or OKC late this fall and then a real convention next summer?

I'd be for it, Chuck.

Out of curiousity, do you have a way of sending out an invite to all members here, on UD, and on NG to members resident in the central Texas, north Texas, and Oklahoma regions?
